Description
Portrait of Baroness Vril Matharo, Aeowyn's best friend and seneschal. I changed the background, and redid the postwork, as well as played around with the lighting. To respond to comments -- the old background was part of a DAZ room, but not intended to be seen so close up. I used a procedural shader (can't remember which) to get a textured wall. I finally got the shadows from the necklace by cranking up the AO strength and playing with the lights. The piortrait was post-worked in Photoshop with two identical layers, one with underpainting and one with oil-daubes in order to get a painted effect. The background is a scene from DAZ cyclorama rendered as a separate image and then darkened.

I like this Idea, and it is a good render Cheers! D

The canvas texture is very nicely done and the lighting gives its a soft outdoor painting look... Maybe just touch the shadow under her chin with a soften tool to give it a more real feeling. A lovely idea and a beautiful presentation! :D

I agree with Anasta about the shadows..you will notice that there is no shadow beneath the necklace, which gives it a look of being added as an after thought. Most people have trouble with shadows and lighting...and im one of them..it just takes practice.I do like the over all concept of the image.."framed portrait"...the wall texture could be not so blurry.I glanced though your gallery and as all of us each image gets better!

I like the contrast in lighting between what's in the frame and the wall behind it. The image within the frame has an old world feel to me that captures the idea of the image. I agree about the shadow under the necklace. The streaks though, initially I took them for glass, then painting, but I don't understand why they extend beyond the portrait (lower right).

I really like the presentation, the way the portrait frame is hanging on a wall (is that different from original?) Great job catching the shadow cast by the picture frame, and I see you corrected the necklace shadow (AO?) very nicely. The high rez is very much appreciated, this image has such high detail.
