Or beginning of the walk, depending on your point of view. Either way, it's foot travel from here on. Here Pele has claimed the road; on the other side of the flow, she took out an entire subdivision. Sorry I don't have any pics of that. Thanks for stopping and any comments.

So fascinating to see this shot taken by you, Dennis, when we have only seen it before on TV. It's curious to me that they found it necessary to place a warning marker beside the road... as if anyone would actually try to keep driving once they had seen this?? :))

lol@Maria. In the day, the lava is plainly visible but at nights, its like a dark shadow. It gives a driver advance warning in case they do over run the other barricade. For some reason, I remember this area the most. Like you said, its the beginning of the walk or ending of the walk. I'm usually dead tired when I reach this marker and glad to see the end. I'm just fascinated following your travels here. Excellent job. Aloha
