Description

Three-Toed Sloth. He (or she) was on a bridge through a rain-forest reserve in Costa Rica. I suspect he had strayed from a tree which happened to be adjacent to the bridge and had forgotten how to escape again. Sloths move slowly because their diet is so poor. Their "toes" are really very impressive claws, that wouldn't disgrace the planet's major bears, or the Harpy Eagles of the sloths' own domain. The Harpy Eagles themselves include sloths in their diet; when a sloth is using its huge claws to grip a tree, it is defenceless against the world's most powerful raptor. Harpy Eagles are pretty scarce, though, so I am pretty confident that this particular sloth got away safely.

Looks like a creature from a sci-fi movie, wonderfully clear and great detail.
