Description
When Esmerelda, the Fortune Teller appears with her cat Belfry in her gaily painted Vardo (caravan) pulled by her steadfast and loyal horse Dudley, everyone in the Forest knows spring has finally arrived. She winters in the Southern Forest and spends spring and summer in the Forgotten Forest of Childhood Dreams. Better known as just the Forest.
Esmerelda brings gifts of exotic delicacies from the South to all the fairies and critters. Baskets of Dollop Drops covered in chocolate with Honeysuckle centers. Sugared Raspberry Surprise, Honey dipped Spirkles with almond topping. Walnut Wiffles, Blueberry Bumps and a favorite among all, the infamous and fattening Pecan Puddles.
At night the fairies and some critters too, go down to the vale to visit. It's always fun to have a fortune told or have the cards read. They sit around the fire on soft down pillows, with a bowl of hot mushroom soup, bread and cheese and tell the news of the Forest while Esmerelda was gone. They listen intently in awe and glee to the tales of her adventures in the South.
If by chance you are walking through the West meadow on a moonlit night, and look down in the vale you might see a twinkling fire in the distance and shadows of fairies playing on the near by trees, you may even hear the laughter of the fairies on the breeze and if you stand very, very still and listen very intently you may hear..."but my darlink, the crystal is never wrong... or so I've been told. Or it could be just the moonlight playing tricks with the shadows of the trees and the breeze in your hair, you'll have decide. :o)
