I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Wondering if ya fell off the planet, Bob - I haven't gotten object placements to suit my tastes yet, but you gotta try, and this is a good one!

For some reason I did not get a notice you posted this, Bob. Looks more like you can hardly see the sky for the trees and wonder how they grow in such a barren land! I got lucky on my 1st Th2 render and have not produced anything I'd post since so I don't have a clue on how you did this. I'm not that impressed with the way the software works and am having too much fun with other programs. Happy Easter.

Dry and dusty looking Bob. Love the terrain and POV, your clouds are excellent, nice and soft. Perfect for this look. Excellent work on the surfaces. The trees suit, the shadows just right.

AGree the point of view is excellent. Love the close up of the tree - top right. My only comment would be that you would expect to see some ground cover maybe or some dropped leaves just below the trees apart from that I think this is a particularly realistic piccy. I like that you haven't gone overboard with the trees, the distribution is good and the surfacing of the dirt is also fabulous. Can we see this piccy "After the rain" .......... Keep it up Bob, you've done a great job for someone with so little time. More please!!
