I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

I really like the lighting and mood in this fine landscape art creation!!!
artgum
I was drawn to those whispy clouds first, but the surfacing gives this a strong feel, with that great choronr touch. The lighting here suggests you're experimenting a bit, and it's worked out well. Excellent TG2 Bob!

What a marvelous scope and sense of scale. I love the way the haze sits in the valley. Impressive realism. Lovely cirrus clouds and a beautiful surface. Outstanding TG2 work, in my opinion.

Marvelous mountain scene, fine clouds and wonderful haze!

Fantastic terrain, lighting and atmo!!! Beautiful and very realistic view!!! Excellent POV, too!!!

J'aime moins, je trouve que tes surfaces montagneuses manquent de variation (trop uniformes) et tes sapins me semblent bien seuls !!
Fahrenheit451
Excellent!

Fantastic light and surface!

Once again, your lighting is the magic touch. Lovely atmo and cloud work and an inspiring view. Very nicely done Bob!

Each one in this series is showing improvement, though there's something not quite right about the distribution of the trees - or it might be the trees themselves - I can't quite figure out what's amiss. Perhaps its me!
kanzler
Agree with azrabella.

Nice view. The population of trees could be improved. The golden light is very nice.

Yep they said it all..... the trees caught my eye too I think its because TG makes them so dark and don't seem to have shadows, they could be clumped a little more realistically too but unfortunately its what TG gives you ... I love the mist on the right it really draws the eye into the picture and the surfacing is excellent. Love the clouds too - these are particularly realistic. Keep up the good work Bob, I don't know how you do it! MORE PLEASE!!

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. You're right; the trees have no shadows! Honestly, I never noticed that; and, that is what was bothering me about this picture. I tried for less population since this is a very high elevation where tree population begins to thin out.

That glowing fog is amazing indeed! Bravo!!! :)

very nice job, Bob !! i like it !!!

Yep, I noticed trees have no shadows, but that is not what really got my attention, Bob...that awesome mountain with the weathered chunk out of it is fantastic....gives a real sense of wind-blown sand swirling in the distant mist or could be a dust storm. Very, very nice work.

Love the scales!

Mt. Baldy from a DEM? I actually live on the Northern slope of the San Gabriel Mnts, Very near where Mt. Baldy resides. The valley looks almost like where Lone Pine road runs eventually up to Wrightwood.

Hi Bob, sorry I missed this. The notifier isn't notifing! The mountains looks great, but the trees look out of place in the valley!
