It seems that peeps don't respond well to the Growth Hormones in modern day feed. However there is hope in new experiments with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I think it was because back in the old days, they didn't put the peeps in those huge feedlots, like they do now. To grow truly large, peeps need a grassy, spacious area where they can scratch. Although, I have to admit I haven't a clue as to what they scratch with.
