BIOI am an IT specialist by profession, but my hobby (besides computers) has always been photography. I have been interested in this since early childhood, starting off with instant cameras and graduating to SLR's and recently a SLR lookalike. My first SLR was a Minolta X300 and then a Minolta Dynax 404i. My first digital was a Fuji S5000 DSLR-like camera, but nowdays I use a Canon EOS 350D with an 18-55 and 75-300 with a Speedlite 420EX (which is very handy for doing weddings). I don't profess to be any good at photography and have no experience with studio work. I do however like outdoors and scenery and have been asked to do a couple of weddings before, which came out well. The best people pictures I take are those where the person does not pose and are caught almost unawares.
I love the outdoors and camping and go fairly regularly and take my mountain bike with. My friends and I go mostly to nature reserves.

difficult shot it seems with the available light (i'm guessing your ISO wasnt very high and this was either overcast or indoors), it doesnt seem as sharp as it might have been, but then i dont know exactly what 300mm lens you are using - but 1/60th seems like it might be the problem unless you were using a tripod/beanbag. It seems you need a bit more DOF to really give some detail to the face - that or try some sharpening trickery in post ;)

Inshaala: Light was very restrictive. A very overcast day. Being a patron at and a regular visitor to the sanctuary where this little critter has a home, I was showing a guest around and did not really expect to take any photos (but came away with 142) and as such did not bring the bulky flash. ISO was 100, Aperture priority. I would definitely have pushed the DoF up if I had more light. Increasing the ISO would also have given me a couple of stops to play with. (Such is hindsight). Thanks for your constructive comments.
