Description

After watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" for approximately the 2001st time this week, I sat down at the computer and produced this little effort. Back in 1968, the year 2001 looked a lot nicer. (The original posted on 2/16 did not have the Pan Am Orion space plane. Ask & ye shall receive.)

... yes it did. Nice work with the space station V mesh. Incidentally, the space station was positioned between Earth and the moon, so Earth would never have appeared that big, but oh well. I'm especially digging the bump-mapping on Eath - looks good. Only thing is: where's the Orion spaceplane? :)

Got me. What kind of orbit was Station V actually in? Low? High? Lagrange? As for the Pan Am Orion, that's for the future when I fiddle with the model to my satisfaction. I'll bet Dennis Tito would have much preferred staying at the orbital Hilton.

You can get a pretty nice model of the Orion spaceplane at www.3dcafe.com. And hey, maybe the moon is off camera to the left and the station is on it's way to a higher orbit. Good work, by the way. Nice earth.
