Description

I guess if you asked me what my work is about right now, I'd have to say I'm still in the learning phase. Until now I have recreated the 2D works of others. I have posted mainly the reinterpretations of works of Artist that have inspired me most. I have a lot of my designs that I would like to recreate in 3D as I become more confident in my abilities. I hope to start posting more of that stuff. Now about this piece: The title states, "Something for Syd. If you can't guess who the inspiring artist is yet, that's because at this point in his career he was still a student at the Art Center. The year was 1955. A very young Syd Mead did a pastel with an eye towards the future. I spotted this little gem in a collation of his work "Sentinel." I told myself that if I ever got good enough, I would like to recreate it. Will, here it is. If you have seen the original you will note that there are people in it. I've just purchased a copy of Poser. I just started the program and have a long way to go before I can add people to my scenes. So here is my homage to a young Syd Mead (without people). I love his earlier work and hope to reinterpret some more his stuff as I get better at this. Enjoy, Vincent

Yep, I know this one well. I taught rendering technique as an Industrial Design Grad student and had all my students by the first Sentinel book-- it was so good. Over the years, Syd and I have become good friends and I'm sure he's be very impressed with your modeling prowess and wonderful tribute. Keep up the great work!
