Description


In the valley of Urubamba, there is a place where salt is exploited. Salt come from a small source in mountain and since the inca period, salt is exploited ! There must be thousands of salt pans in which the water evaporates leaving back pure salt. Salinas of Maras are located at an altitude of almost 4000 meters

I guess I will need to read up on this procedure. I don't understand this mining technique. My cousin mines salt but out of a hole in the ground under one of the Great Lakes. Really great photo!
