Description

This is one of my more sombre experiences I captured: A dam I spend much of my time at, which has dried up during the drought. To see the fish die was a heart breaking experience and therefore this photo has special meaning for me. The dam has since been stocked with fish again and new life is everywhere to be seen.
I dedicate this to my niece who was murdered, one of the main reasons for my absence lately. For those interested to read about the battle to have her death investigated, you can read here.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
I hope you all had a good weekend.
Thank you for all the messages and mail I received recently, I love you all.

My heart goes out to you, Piet. We can all sympathize but can never truly know exactly how you feel. I pray that you find healing from within - as soon as possible. And much like your upload today, may you realize life's beauty tho there seems to be no signs of nurturing - at least to the naked eye. God Bless and Hugs. Jodie

WEll it could be from the "Dark Side of the moon" but the little yellow flower brings it back to the sun. "Wish you were here" is my favorite Pink Floyd song. So glad you are here. Take care Piet:0)))your friend, bonita

I wish I could say welcome back with a big smile but it saddens my heart reading your niece story. Such tragic events that almost seems that there is more to it than just a crime. Something is very wrong with the investigators. Hope you can find someone to help. My thoughts and prayers to all the family. A beautiful and meaningful dedi for Lizel. Aloha

The photo is very powerful and artistic. I have been going through a lot here (comparitively very minor) and did not realize you had not been around. Now that I know why, my heart goes out to you. I have not had such an experience in my own life, so I cannot imagine the heartache. All I can do is offer sympathy and a prayer. May God grant his deepest comfort and love to all who are feeling the empty space her presence no longer fills in this life. Nothing can "fix" this, but art expressions and time may help. Thanks for sharing with us.

I'm glad to see you back - at least for this posting. We have a similar story of tragedy in my family. It still has no ending. So sad for the pain I see and feel in this post and in the accompanying link. As for this photo, it is very expressive and very well done. Reflections of your heart are evident.

Excellent capture Piet. Amazing that life can spring up in a dry wilderness. It gives us all hope. So sorry about Lizel and that her life has so sadly been cut short. Is there an international body that could apply pressure to the SA police ?. It seems so wrong that they are making so little effort into solving this brutal murder.

... "What shall we use To fill the empty spaces Where we used to talk? How shall I fill The final places? How should I complete the wall." Pink Floyd's "The Wall" Wonderful to see your work again, Piet. I guess I don't have the words to express my sorrow for how you feel but I know I want to cry when I think about your frustration and confusion... so I will use one more line from "The Wall"... "... its not easy, banging your heart against some mad buggers wall... be well my friend... lee

What can I say but I am truely saddened by this news. I lost my daughter (18) due to her boyfriends driving. Yet, I can not imagine the terrific saddness of knowing someone close was murdered so horribly. My heart goes out to you and your family. Welcome back, terrific piece of work. Aloha and take care.
