Description
Note: I built the ship on the right, but this image is a screen capture from a broadcast episode. I did not animate the scene. The Celestra was the name the ship had when it was built, but they have more than one of this class of ship in the fleet. The one that was involved in the collision, was the Stryker. While I built the Celestra in 3ds Max, the ship was exported to Lightwave for animation in the series. So, I put it in the Lightwave gallery. FX shot is by Zoic, I believe, prior to the FX work going in-house at Universal.
Again, I only built the model on the right. :)

Good use of 3ds Max. My favorite application. Animated in Lightwave? Interesting choice.

all of the effects in BSG is handled by Lightwave ..and the Galactica its self was built in Lightwave of over 3 million polys .... that from my memory .. I had a go building this (Celestra) myself last year for a fan film using Kens Celestra for the main inspiration. Thanks for posting Ken Potemkin aka Taranis

Hey Taranis! I was so flattered to see your version. It was really eerie having someone make their version of a ship that is your own canon version. It is really cool. :) I can't wait to see the BSG fan film, I need to drop by the site and see how things are going! Ken
