Description
My second "finished" render in Vue 5. I seem to start lots of things and then become frustrated that they are not looking the way I imagined. I also seem to move from subject to subject all the time. Should I try to stick with one type of subject until I am happy with the way they work, or is it okay for me as a beginner to change direction so often? Critique and advice to help me improve are welcome please.
Vue 5 with a little adjustment of levels done in Photoshop Elements.

I don't know anything about Vue but I do like your pic!

The eagle has a majestic look to it, the way its expanding its wings. The stormy-looking sky in the background is a very interesting touch, or maybe the sky just happens to be overcast. Either way, it looks very nice. If I were to make a suggestion, although I think it's debatable, maybe add more depth to the clouds because they seem a little flat comparing to the eagle. Then again, some clouds can look so wispy that they appear flat, so like I said before it is still debatable. This is a really great pic, though:) Eagles are very beautiful creatures.

Hi there midgqe170 i love the eagle it looks superb. I personally think that the best way to learn is to play around. So to answer your question, changing direction all the time means you are learning something new with each scene. The more scenes yo play with the more you learn. Keep up the good work.

Dynamic and beautiful. I like the mystical quality. Go whereever your muse and heart take you with art. There is no right or wrong way, so follow your creative spirit and enjoy the wild ride. :o) CC

I think you have a very nice composition here. I haven't been doing this long and when I started I didn't know where to start, and for a long time just didn't bother with Vue at all. Going on line and see what others are doing, the attention they pay to things I think is very helpful. As you look at others works you will start to form your own feelings about what is important to you. Then start doing things, lots of simple things until you feel really comfortable, forget the neatness of the program and focus on what you envision in your mind. Also. don't worry if you start to wander as you work, I often have an idea.. a sunrise atmosphere only to completely change the time of day as the scene develops. You can always save the current work for another day and venture into what you now see before you. Hope this is a little helpful.

Thanks for your comment on my terminator model. I've worked on that for weeks, many times ready to give it up, but persevered and now am pleased with the result, but still grinding away on it, until it is exactly where I want it. It's a learning process. You grow with each model, image, and render and what you learn there you take with you to the next model or scene. In your case, you will want to create some scenes in Vue until you are confident and comfortable with that program, next you want to do the same with Poser. Patience and one step at a time. I have been messing with my programs for years and am still learning all of the time. I am still in total awe of the quality of work I see here, and think I will never be as good as that. What you see all around you is not the result of luck or instant knowldge, but often of many years of learning and of countless hours of fretting over each scene. Your images show a good sense of composition and of color. That's a great start. Now go and develop that. Get into forums, follow the great tutorials here (to the end, until you have what they want you to have) and on other sites, and grow, learn, and above all, have fun. It will be well worth it.

I agree with Romanceworks! I always get caught up in doing multiple works. Sometimes things with one subject just don't seem to stream, so I work on one of my others, or I take time to relax. Then there are the times I'm up till daybreak! Lol I really like your render, the style and expression are definintly headed in the right direction!

Thank You for your comments and support. After a long period of illness I have now started working on 3D images again. I am currently preparing some models in 3ds Max towards my course work and also in Hexagon 2.2 which I had free on the cover disc of a magazine. I hope to get to the stage where I can make my own models to import into Vue. I have just bought Vue 7 E'sprit but haven't used it much yet as I have to focus on my course work which has to be submitted for marking. Once this is complete I will have more time to start getting into Vue again. I recently discovered Geekatplay's website and have found it a mine of information on Vue, Hexagon & Photoshop
