Description

There were just SO many ways to go with a title on this one! 'Geranium robertianum' is the scientific name. 'Herb Robert' is the common name. I could have gone with 'The Dread Herb Robert' as a nod to the movie "The Princess Bride," but it seemed like such a tiny, delicate thing to be bearing such a name. (Although I was seriously tempted!) Those of you who are fans of the Dread Pirate Roberts can just know that's secretly the real title. ;) Although I admit to a tiny bit of postwork and a bit of judicious cropping, that's all I did aside from the frame. I look at it now, and it looks like a composite, but that's really the way the photo turned out!

It looks like you did a very good job with DOF, not like it's a composite. I don't know anything about pirates, dread or otherwise, but I agree that this is too delicate a flower to be carrying such a load.

I personally like 'The Dread Herb Robert' - hahahaha. Lovely capture. ------- Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work. Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! I KNOW WHERE THE POISON IS! Man in Black: Then make your choice. Vizzini: I will, and I choose - What in the world can that be? Vizzini: [Vizzini gestures up and away from the table. Roberts looks. Vizzini swaps the goblets] Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything. Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter.First, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours. Man in Black, Vizzini: [they drink ] Man in Black: You guessed wrong. Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha... Vizzini: [Vizzini stops suddenly, and falls dead to the right] Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned. Man in Black: They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.

What is with TwoPynts and that veritable book he wrote as a comment? I almost forgot what I was going to say after plodding through that interminable exchange. Anyway, an exquisite macro capture of the mauve Robert Geranium, or whatever its current nom de plume. But, why was the flower set on the left side of the image? Is this the new trend, because if it is, I'm in deep yogurt.
