Description

Ok...finally got the shadow to do what I wanted. Not sure what the original problem was, but it's fixed, so who cares. LOL This is Halema'uma'u Crater within Kilauea's Caldera. From 1905 to 1924 it was a lava lake within the caldera, and it's the home of Pele, the goddess of volcanoes. In 1924 the lava lake drained abruptly allowing rain water to trickle down into the mountain which caused a massive steam explosion which left the crater of this size. It was originally somewhat smaller in diameter, but much deeper, but subsequent eruptions and collapses have made it much shallower and a bit wider. Elizabeth is another friend that'd I'd been wanting to do another render for, and since this is one of the photos from my trip that I'll be packaging to submit to the marketplace, it seemed a good time to kill two birds with one stone and try a render with one. I'm not sure what size images to do though. By default the photos are 2816x2112 which seems quite a bit too big. I reduced this one to 1024x768. I guess if anybody has any opinions on what a good size to do would be, please let me know. :) Wasn't sure if I wanted to include maybe two different sizes to. *shrug* There's one IBL and one spot behind her for the shadow to match up with the photo. Clothing is DAZ, Hair is Sapphire Fox Hair. Pose is one from Ilona's Body Language Series I think. Thanks for looking and for all the comments recently. Happy Saturday John

Oh...and I had to postwork the shadow off her foot and leg and I tried to fudge/smooth out around her knee where there were some bending issues. Think I did pretty good with the shadow removal, but the knee looked better last night when I was tired. LOL

It all looks so familiar as I've been here over a hundred times. A lot of offerings has been placed on that rock on the right of the girl. This pit use to always erupt and the lava level got higher and higher but eventually will collapse some...whew. The lava fountains would be about 200 feet high. The viewing stand was different in the 50's where it stood out at the edge and the drop was right below you. They moved it back somewhat for safety reason as the sides would collapse. Across up above the cliff, the volcano house if visible. There is a trail to walk down from there to where you took this picture. We walked it barefoot. Tough feet those days, lol. I like this one. It brings back memories of what we use to do. The volcano area was our play grounds at nights. Well done. Aloha

Cool integration! I was thinking your vacation shots with wide angles would work perfectly for compositing characters into the scene- very, very cool man!

Very nice posing for the image, but her lighting is a bit off for it. She should be casting more shadow on the ground and/or getting more from it.

Good job! I do think maybe a different lighting would help to blend her more with the photo. I think blending together reality from Poser is a toughy!!...Shannon ;}

I think you did an excellent job blending the two together. Impressive crater. As for size on the backgrounds....I think I would stay with the original size. That way, people can crop or resize as they wish.
