Description

This is the same image I just posted with some minor postwork around the side of the ship to soften the angularity of the saves. Since I don't do a lot of postwork, it's probably not the best but I gave it a go anyway. This image took 33+ hours to render in V6 Esprit with only a procedural terrain, the ship imported from Poser, and a volumetric atmosphere.

Nice image! May I make a couple of suggestions to help reduce render times? 1: don't use a procedural terrain for the waves - get hold of "SeaVue" by Monsoon over at 3D Commune. It's a great package. 2: save Poser objects as Vue native .vob files and then use those - Vue handles it's own format much better than .pz3s 3: if you're using Photoshop or similar for post-pro, try some brushes for waves & spray - look here: http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=45615&vendor=Raptura for examples Hope this helps!! :-)

Ooh, not much I can say about it, but it relly looks good. There's just one thing. The sky looks dark at one end and light on the other. It's rather unsettling.

@DramaKing - the sky is supposed to look like that ... it's an oncoming storm that's raising the seas. Thanks for the comment. :)

This looks good. I also use procedural terrains for oceans but i dont use the foamy water texture you use because i think it doesnt look very natural. For foam, here's some great tutes: http://paroge.com/vde/tutorial/default.htm I think the 33 hours render isnt justifiable for this image. I've done LOTS of renders in Vue and all the pics in my gallery have render times much under 33 hours (and some of them are really complex). For example, in my "somewhere, somewhen" i also have a procedural ocean and it rendered in 2 hours. Here's a great tut for optimizing Vue render settings: http://users.tns.net/~mwalter1/Vue_Render_Settings.pdf

nice image - as an old sailor I can tell you the water should be much darker tho- the sea is a reflection of the weather - darker the skies - darker the water - good work tho!
