Description
Modeled and rendered in Carrara.
This is an image I finished last year. I put more detail in this picture than actually shows up. For instance the riders have detailed legs and shoes. This was because I modeled the riders before I designed the robot horses. I initially thought they would ride on the outside like on real horses, but the robot designs I worked up changed that notion. For those who are wondering, there is a Syd Mead picture of a similar subject matter (only on a MUCH bigger scale) but it was not the inspiration for my picture. This picture was inspired by photos of motorcycle racers going around a curve.

Very wild and creative image. I especially like the background scene with the fallen horse.

I've just spent ages staring at the full size image and it really is a masterpiece! My only gripe is that a few of the rider's faces don't seem to quite fit, which might be down to the lighting or the way you've created this. Anyway, cracking work. Lots of action. Very impressive! 5

Love the theme. Ive admired those early works for sometime. Youve captured the sprit of his work well. Great job.

Nice work. :)

Awsome idea and perfectly executed! I think horse lovers wouldn't like such a future though.

Thank you all for the compliments. The faces were modeled with minimal detail so that may explain why they don't "fit". Also, considering the brutality of the race, I think horse lovers would prefer this to living horses. It's not very obvious but there are pieces of robot wreckage strewn around the track, leftovers from past races. rjay9663 said "...Youve captured the sprit of his work well..." I wasn't trying to capture it. I said his picture was not the inspiration for my picture (although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't influenced by his works). --Nick

I saw this is the DAZ gallery a while back, and am very glad I got the chance to leave commentary. Absolutely magnificent! Well done, and highly immaginative.
