I was born in Zimbabwe on 03/06/88. My family, consisting of parents, older brother and sister, migrated to South Africa when I was six months old. We moved back to Zimbabwe six years later, to help my grandparents on their farm - a career change for my father.
After a measly eighteen months we upped sticks and went farming on our own. This led us to Kwekwe, in the heart of Zimbabwe, to farm tobacco! Borrowdale farm which is part of the "Midlands Black Rhino Conservancy" is where we settled . This was the most incredible experience, living with such an abundance of wild life ........... of which we became a part of during the school holidays! Due to the "land redistribution policy" we had no option but to move on.
10th November, 2001 saw us arrive in New Zealand with our former lives packed into a suitcase each, ready to start our new lives. Our first three years were spent on the South Island and I nearly froze!!!!!!! A great employment opportunity for my father had us move up to the North Island. I now live on a farm just outside Matamata aka "Hobbiton" (defrosting).
Yep that should sum it up ha!

Great pic! Scary and beautiful at the same time. But I have to say that, in the wrong hands, even a chocolate cookie can be a weapon of mass destruction.

A really moody shot Kai. I love the toning thing you do (whatever it is??) the play on light and shadow is great. Wonderful capture and a great sentiment too. xx

....very interesting shot that certainly doesn't look like a traditional photo -- I'm still digesting this HDR / tone mapping thing --- results that I've seen give me mixed feelings -- this one looks kind of like a realism painting -- love the detail and foreshortened composition -- would rather see the sky and vegetation static like the rest of the picture ---hmmmmm - still digesting ----I downloaded the trial ver of Photomatix ..... should be fun to experiment with --- you're certainly starting to get the hang of it !

Taking the mundane and making it art is a talent. You have the talent to do that. Bravo.

reminds me of one of mayda's shots of a similar construction vehicle. Nice tones (i suppose there is a reason why it is called tonemapping ;)) I like the movement in the foliage, it really picks the subject out in the shot. Nicely done :)
