I have never seen this before Jock. Here the grave is filled by shovels only until the grave is closed. No machinery is ever used.. I think that so many of us are still dealing with the loss of our loved ones.. I do not know if we ever get to the stage when the hurting of the loss stops.. Life goes on, I agree with you. I embrace life every day of my life. Thank you Jock for these pictures of real life. My Hugs to all your family. Di.

Excellent shot of the final chapter of someone's life.

Ok, no disrespect but looking at this it almost seems the grave digger got tired of waiting for the men to fill this with shovels of dirt so he moved them aside and used the little front end loader to get the job done. The young lady seems put out at how long it is all taking - with her arms crossed over her chest and the men just look tired...tired of the shovels and tired of the business of death. Great shot and again, good story behind it.

I think I told you this before Jock, and maybe your wife might want to hear it. My Uncle was a mourner, and he never got over his son's death at a very young age. He and my dad were very close, and I know my dad saw this in him. I remember my dad telling me that if he died, 'Don't mourn me. Life is for the living.' I truly believe that, and we will all meet again. That's for sure! (:

they can tell from the thumb what it is without getting into a tiffy.a candid capture is just that. many people take pictures of the dead.I prefer not to but do not look down on those that do

Excellent shot of the final chapter of someone's life. Depressing as it appears, it never hurts to show reality from time to time. Imagine what they see in Iraq every day. Now that's really a heart crusher.

Oh they finish a final covering with machine...well strange for me but also I learned something about it from your shot. We all have cross to knee next to and cry even on a sunniest day....as you said we have to deal with it.

A great shot to make us that dead is without life, and after the death, others lives continue ! My wife and myself chose the cremation.

What s that place in England? Gravesend? Do they pronounce it Graves end or Grave send? Probably something unknown to us.

Only been to three myself, one was an open casket when I was a little girl, never again. It left to big a impression. The other two were cremated and scattered from a sailboat. So much more peaceful and beautiful. Another thought provoking picture Jock. Thanks for sharing.
