Description

Molly and Gruff practice night maneuvers in preparation for a surprise assault upon the Home Guard garrison at the Vandor Gap.... Peace has prevailed throughout the Northern Realms for many years now, since shortly before Molly and Gruff were born. No immediate threats to the peace and prosperity of their bountiful lands present themselves, and an air of complacency pervades the land. Victoria and Leanne remember all too clearly the wars that were fought to secure the Seven Realms, and have taught their young ones well about the need for eternal vigilance and preparedness.... Most of the comely young women of The Realms think of courtship, marriage and home life...but not Molly. She will be a Guards' Captain or die trying - never mind that no woman has ever been a member of the Guards, much less an officer! Quick and agile in both body and mind, Molly has carefully crafted a plan that will allow her to petition the King's favor - a plan that hinges on capturing the Guards' fort that protects the Vandor Gap....
