Description
Forgotten Instruments: The Grand Theremin
An instrument of the electroacoustic variety, the enigmatic Grand Theremin was a hybrid of the theremin and harp. Its draw lay in its almost magical sound: a cross between a viola and a woman's voice, with many different inflections depending on how the instrument was played. The player could play the instrument in a number of different ways, including striking his hands on the chimes, or by hovering over them--plucking music "out of the ether," as it were. Despite its mesmerising sound, the Theremin was eventually retired because its music was unconventional, considered either too progressive or too ancient.
--Modeled in AC3D, textured and rendered in Bryce, finished in Photoshop and a little no-brand program called Lights Effects. So, now it's officially a series.

Never heard of this instrument, and have no idea if you presented it accurately.....BUT....what you have presented it is EXCELLENT! Good job and thanks for the education! :)

Great concept and series! What a haunting sound it would produce (if it were real!) - cool!

A lovely image. I studied music for quite a while at college but I've never seen an instrument like this before. Nice work and info
