My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

OMG, lovely color effects in this wonderful capture of Rhodies/Azaleas in a state of petrifaction. They look like they would easily snap in pieces on being touched or handled. Can we say, Tostados with stamens? Where's the salsa? Actually, the petals remind me of the leaves of autumn.

Beautiful Image!!!!

Well, the taxonomy is spot on. I think it's a Rhody based on the clustered flower. Don't Azelias have individual flowers, while the Rhody flowers come in clumps like this? Just going from memory, do don't quote me. Oh yeah, the photo. Beautiful range of oranges in this, and I love the texture of the petals, like Japanese paper lanterns.

very good and great observations! The color, as you say, is incredible and very rare.

Wow! I've never seen one that color--that must be a special variety (all the rhodies around here are pink or purply). Just gorgeous!
