Description
Another 10/30/06 capture of the F/A-18 after landing and taxing to a stop during the Auto/Copter Expo show held annually at the beautiful Armed Forces Reserve Center in beautiful Los Alamitos, California. This is the same show that featured the 1912 Ford I posted a while back.
In contrast to the other aircraft on display, no one was allowed closer to the plane than shown above. They aren't shown in this photo, but there were a couple of guards on duty to enforce that restriction.
For those interested in such matters, the F/A-18 Hornet was built in single- and two-seat versions. Although the two-seater is a conversion trainer, it is also combat capable. The F/A-18A and C are single-seat aircraft while the F/A-18B and D are two-seaters. The B model is used primarily for training, while the D model is the current US Navy aircraft for attack, tactical air control, forward air control and reconnaissance squadrons.
Further details under my previous #1 and #2 F/A-18 photos.
In retrospect, I should have also snapped a picture depicting the starboard, or sunny, side of the aircraft. That's what happens when you rush in eager anticipation from one display to another.
Thanks for coming by, and have a lovely day today.

Excellent shot! I don't mind the shady side at all. The shadow on the ground is fantastic. That's the kind of thing you see in sunnier climes than I inhabit! I think it adds a nice touch to the composition.
