Description

Hi all, How's everyone doing? I've had a few people wanting to see the difference the tone mapping makes and some asking what it is. SO though I'm not crazy about the pic I'm posting this in an attempt to answer a few of these questions... SO first of all, please don't be offended but if you really wanted to find out what tone mapping is ya could Google, but here's a link to"Wikipedia" anyway. So hopefully that'll answer that question... For those who might want to know what program I use to do it, I use Photomatix I got the pro pack so I tend to use the filter version of it in Photoshop to do the tone mapping AFTER converting it to a 16-bit image. Isn't that such a lazy way to answer something like that *giggles* I will get around to making a tutorial for those that care to find out just what I'm doing in Photomatix. Sorry ya have to wait for it to load but below is an animation of the image above starting with the untouched shot out of the camera, then tone mapped one finally followed by my postworked one...
animation Thanks for the kind words on my previous post: My previous picture</div></body></html>

I actually really like this photo, the background scenery on the right looks amazing, and the detail in the water, and the sky towards the horizon...all told, I think it's a great capture!

Stunning capture (even the shot straight from camera is amazing!) I love the tone mapping effects and have the trial version - shame about all their copyright logos that are slapped across the pic when used!!! (Note to self, must buy full version!!) A wonderful scenery, the water and reflections are gorgeous and a perfectly composed shot. Excellent Kai. xx

This scenery leaves me breathless. It is such a quiet captivation of nature's beauty, it simply calls one to dream.

Beautiful scenery and nicely postworked dude (i gots to get me one of those ;)). I cant comment much on anything to do with exposure and colour and whatnot (this monitor sucks) but i think that cropping from the bottom would improve this image a bit, the water is uninteresting and the horizon is bang in the middle (although i realise you are doing this more for the tonemapping exercise than anyhting else). Hope all is well over there :)

Pretty cool stuff - not very fond of the sky coloring (Matter of taste) - but the improvement is quite obvious for the rest. Well done!
