Description

This next series is from a hike last week to Siouxon Falls in southern Washington State. It was a beautiful trail, but the light was really harsh, so I don't have many shots to share. I'll have to either investigate HDR or start getting up earlier. :-) Anyway, I hope you like this cedar nurse log we saw along the trail. Cedars take decades to decompose after they fall, and along the way they provide nourishment for many plants. This one is covered with Oxalis, sword ferns, and several kinds of moss. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

Great play with light and shadows. Wonderful details and a great composition. Superb capture (not sure I would get up early enough to avoid the harsh light myself - bring on the postwork I say LOL!!) xx

I love finding nurse logs on hikes because they are so interesting and beautiful and you did a great job of showing this one. Today we are headed from Boise to Grand Teton National Park (after we get our cracked windshield reparied - a rock got us)so maybe I will find a nurse log of my own to photograph.

Cedar has long been used for making outdoor furniture as well as chests to keep moth susceptible textiles in. It seems it is useful in many different ways :) A lovely shot.

Light? The light is fine. Looks perfectly normal to me! Nice sunny day, what's not to like about the light? ;)
