I'm a software engineer by day. I spend my time pushing ones and zeros around, which is not as easy as it sounds. They're slippery little devils.BIOI discovered fractals in the mid 80's with Fractint on what must have been a 25 MHz processor. Around 2001 I upgraded all the way from 400 MHz to 1.8 GHz, and thought about making fractals again. I discovered Fractal Explorer, and later XenoDream. These days I use mostly XD and MBF, with an occasional image from ChaosPro and Quasz, since I've always loved quaternions.
For my photography I use a Canon 30D. My primary lenses are a Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF DO IS USM and a Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM.

Awesome shot ... The trees are so huge ..

This looks like a lovely hike. I like that open look, as well. It's different from up here, where everything is all underbrush up to your eyeballs! Beautiful shot.

I find those difficult lighting conditions really hard to work with on the exposure settings but you have mastered it perfectly here. Lovely play with the light and shadows and a fantastic POV to capture those hikers on the path. Excellent shot Dennis. xx

I had that problem walking along the slopes of Mauna Loa at the bird sanctuary. I like the overcast days, easier to photo shoot. You have an interesting trail and forest. So much beauty here. Excellent job. Aloha

It's very interesting to see the holes in the canopy in the form of sunlit spots. I see lots of trunks on the ground, corresponding to those holes. I guess they will become nurse logs in time :)

This is really pretty. As far as dark and light...well, the forest is dark and light. ;~)You could always experiment in PS with the dodge and burn tools.
