Description
I grew up with these gentle creatures back home in NC. I once had an uncle that took great pleasure in killing these critters when he was out driving on the back roads of Richmond County. I never understood why he did that. I take a very different approach I try to save these box turtles when I see them crossing the road. Cars are one of their biggest threats.

Gorgeous shot. Such marvelous detail and great facial capture. Turtles are not usually appealing but you did well presenting this one. I rescue red-earred sliders myself. They are found wandering in yards here and dogs often chew on them. When I lived up north, I did see box turtles in the road alot though.
