Description

Figure in landscape No.22 Oil painting 1050x750mm Ths old Banksia serata grows on the edge of a 200 meter drop It grows in a hard place. Hard places in life are what develop character. Take a look at the trees - those that grow in ideal conditions are those that are ho hum. Take a look at life. Those that have it easy don't need to put down deep roots or develop thick skins. They have no exciting story to tell. Sometimes you can't tell the tree from the forest. Sometimes as an artist you have to go to the hard places to develop deep art. This painting was done on site at the edge of the same cliff with the wind threatening to make a kite of the canvas. To make art often you have to take risks.

Fabulous. I love the almost abstract quality to this tree portrait. The composition and line just sings! Beautiful work.
