Description
Hi guys, no I haven't left and gone to another world I am still here and still snapping pictures of heavenly bodies. I also had my appendix out so I walk a little lighter now.
This is the BlackEye Galaxy, coz it looks like it got a black eye, sheesh). It is number 64 in that Frenchmans list of things that are not comets.
Whats new, I am still using the dedicated CCD camera on my telescope. My old webcam has been seriously tweeked with a soldering iron so I can use it attached to another telescope that is mounted on the back of the one used to take this picture. The webcam now interfaces with the telescope mount so that the mount is guided to keep the image in the same place for hours. As a result, I can now take images of very faint thingies with long exposures before the earth moves and ruins the exposure.
Enjoy and HAPPY JULY 4th

WOW. That is awesome! I've been wanting to try to catch the full moon over the last couple of nights, but havent been able to - we've been swamped with cloud cover... Grrrrr...

That is too cool! I'm also really impressed with your technical know-how to make a guided-telescope for long exposures. Very very cool!

Like Einstein's famous quote: "Spooky distance at action" (a hint that he didn't believe about teleportation, in which some wierd phenomenas might occurred in the quantum mechanical laws of physics) How many light years is that Black Eye Galaxy"? Thanks!
