Description
I am back from my ramble around the galaxy.
Attached picture of the Swan Nebula (M17 in that Frenchmans list of faint fuzzy things that are not comets n'est pas).
Taken with an Orion Starshoot CCD camera on an 8" Reflector telescope at F5. Total 2 hours exposure. I now have the ability to guide the scope on the subject with another camera (a CCDLabs QGuide camera). And so I can go long long exposures without making the stars into streaks. It's fun, but gets boring and tedious. So I am reading lots of novels while I wait.
Enjoy and everyone, have an happy Labor day or August bank holiday or whatever you celebrate.

Welcome back spacefarer. Sounds like you have a great new tool for getting great images like this. Looking forward to more, this better not be your 'swan' song. ;'P

Awesome work. Autoguide sounds so much less tedious... Try reading some Edgar Rice Burroughs while you wait. It'll inspire you to watch mars for signs of life all the more intently :)

Great shot...it does get boring having to wait. I just grab my 50x70 binos & scan the starfields! Congrats!!! :D
