Description

The Fernus Peranus is one of a few species in the Pyro-Furnace family. These creatures stand at approx 6 ft at shoulder height are typically non aggressive but when provoked or put into a life threatening situation they will use a very effective defense mechanism. This mechanism is only used when absolutely necessary because the Fernus Peranus will sparingly store a certain amount of liquids which take days for its body to produce. It has a very complex infrastructure almost like a chemical lab, where the organs are specifically designed to transfer and sift liquids and gases. The highly flammable concentration of Ethyl Chloride, Isopropyl Chloride, and 1-1 Dichloroethylene are kept separate each hooked up to 3 tubes leading to the 3 facial protrusions where they are released. The Fernus Peranus will release one or all three of these liquids at once and will then blast the mixture with oxygen and surprisingly has great control over the combustion. The sacs on its back store a 4th substance one much more potent and used in rare cases. This substance will explode on impact into a fiery ball of extreme heat. Though the fire is very harmful to most creatures the Pyro-Furnace family is invulnerable having similar traits of rocky exoskeletons. In the case of the Fernus Peranus, this creatures exoskeleton is made up primarily of a substance known as flint. Flint is a sedimentary rock and consists predominantly of silica, with occasional impurities such as calcite, iron oxides, clay minerals, and the organic remains of marine organisms also made of silica. A characteristic of flint is its natural conchoidal fracture.

Very well drawn, and the amazing amount of work in all the details of this creature's body really are impressive. I could use that kind of creativity when I'm creating adventures for my role-playing games! Very good work.

Nerfarious@- Thanks man baleensavge@- thank you skyback@- much appreciated ;) thanks Colin@- I appreciate it, if you like when you see a concept of mine just let me know and I'll give you the info "whether its owned by myself or a client". I know usually a model sheet is the most useful but if a 3d artist is interested in creating a design for portfolio purposes and not commercial gain based on my concepts I'm ok with that. So long as they ask for permission and find out who owns the copyright and understand that the intellectual property remains copyright to myself it's all good. I'll be posting more soon. Again thanks for all the positive feedback Mike C - http://www.sharecg.com/pf/mikecorriero
