My name? Eric den Biesen, a Canadian of Dutch ancestry. I'm 46 years young, though I sometimes feel MUCH older. I generally like to model in trueSpace, though I'm learning Carrara and Hexagon as well. Not much free time for it, so anything I'm building progresses REAL slowly. :( I like to illustrate my tales of the Imperium with Poser and/or Bryce, or that story's prequel, Siren's Song, the story of the Human/Mer first Contact. Neither story is more than outline, and bits are told through the pics I do. And because it's fun, of course. :)

I ran into the same problem on the last render I did. Look at her feet. No shadows. There are perfect shadows on the column, but not the floor. Prerender, check the floor's property tabs and make sure the 'Casts Shadows' box is checked. It should be the default, but isn't. You might want to do a Poser4 render is you're using spot-lights (doesn't use point lights). You'll get dark shadows. You can use it as an additional layer to your exsisting piece. Composite it in PSP, or Photoshop. Overall--it's a good piece and just needs some tweaking to be fantastic! Good luck!

Wonderful scene and a fantastic mood. Excellent done.

Her pose and expression are excellent - couldnt depict grief any better. The general set and lighting are appropriate too. I am wondering if you used 'bump' for the objects. It could be more effective if you used displacements, particularly for a side view.E.g the lines of the column look too straight.

i love the light. the pose and general atmosphere is wonderful. nice fitting on the shadowdancer clothes. outside of the displacement and shadowing issues already mentioned, i don't think i'd suggest any changes. nice!
