Description

Captured 7/19/07 around 8 AM, about .5 of a mile from my residence. In my daily excursions about town, I encounter a tremendous variety of fences/walls, be they picket, wood, iron, or brick/iron/concrete, but this is one of my favorites because I like the sweeping curve effect, unobstructed by any plants, bushes or trees. Just a nice, simple, homey shot, looking WNW. Since it was an overcast morning, the whole scene came out rather drab and gray on the monitor, so I turned to my beloved postwork and upped the contrast to unbelievable levels, then employed one of my Photoshop filters to gain this effect. Incidentally, the fence is a pure white in real life. When and if the early morning ever becomes clear enough for sunlight to stream through and create neat long shadows of the fence on the lawn, then I'll capture that also, eschewing filters. Have a fabulous Friday and a worthwhile weekend.

Marketing research long ago found that curves and circular objects appeal most to the general public, whether it was through touch or through sight. You seem to have proved that with this shot. A lovely sweep from left to right and back to left again in an orderly manner. Ya got a good eye here and your postwork worked to brighten the image.

Oh now this shows that there will always be a place for postwork in photography. Great effects you have achieved here Harry and a great capture of the sweeping picket fence to start with. xx
