Description

A nostalgic image... It was the summer of 1990 and I was 10 years old. My first computer was an AMIGA 500 and I started to work with DELUXE PAINT, a 2D program... The image on the screen is the original picture I made... absolutely my first work! (The file was recovered from an old floppy with an Amiga Emulator, WinUae). I made a scene of the Transformers's toon, inspired to the first episode of the animated serie, "Escape from planet Cybertron". So started my passion for Computer Graphics. I applied to the 3D only in the fall of 1998, with Bryce 2, and I started to learn 3D Studio Max in December 1999-January 2000... In the summer of the 1990 in Italy was played the World Soccer Championship... So I put in the scene also the Official Mascotte of the event... that strange figure with the head like a soccer ball and the body like tetris-pieces on the left... Every boy in Italy that year bought one of theese mascottes, I suppose... On YouTube I've found the TV promo of Italia'90 Soccer Championship. A good 3D graphic example... for that time! Man o man does this take me bac. Late starting I got in quick succession, an A1000 and an A2000 to explore the fantastic world of music via DMCS and when finished that project discovered some art[DPaint 1,2,3&4] in the box of software that came with the A1000. Well I was off to the races and soon discovered Imagine3D and eventually Terragen when I moved to pc...thanx for taking me back my friend...great image.. ...

Ah! I had an Amiga 500 too! Well, I still have it (as I still have my ZX Spectrum, actually)! In '90, I was 18, that's probably why I didn't bought the mascotte, though being Italian ;^). I wasn't on CG with Amiga, but I was "inventing" object-oriented programming with AMOS (a programming language for this computer, curious-- it had no object-features, just procedures, and no one had yet told me a word about such things at all, so I guess I was somehow discovering it on my own, by embedding direct memory manipulation into those procedures... it was cool...) BTW You mentioned You read Your Amiga disk, I knew there were really hard problems doing this... got to check out for new on this ;^). Last but not least: Your picture is amazing!!!! Stefano

My brother: "Ok, go shoppin' it's my turn now" Me: "No, it's my keyboard." My brother: "I'll tell mom" Me: "Go then. I'll tell dad" Anyway ... beautiful. Dream to have one of these in here in the corner ;)

I clearly predate you - I started on a BBC Micro with 32KB of RAM! And so started my love affair with computer graphics in 1982! I then moved to an Amiga 500 - with Deluxe Paint, a terrific program for it's time! And this brings back many happy memories. I even used to write for Amiga User International magazine (and Acorn User before that!). A wonderfully done nostalgic image!

We had a thing called a "Colour Genie" - looked similar; and the BBC computer was very popular about the same time. I actually started computing before this, using Fortran IV, and later BASIC. First proper desktop was a PowerMac 7300 (still working ...)

This brings back memories. I remember writing my first Amiga game for this machine. Before that it was the C64 with a DataTape...now that is old.
