Description

Another shot from Saturday's aborted Cooper Spur hike. This is again looking up toward the top of the mountain, which we never did see, BTW. This is Eliot Glacier (no idea why it's spelled with only one "l"); the trail we were using goes up the left side of this glacier, but safely out of its valley. The reason this isn't very clear is that I'm essentially shooting through a cloud, albeit a thin one. I hadn't noticed when I took the shot, but I noticed when I was working on it before posting, that there are two people walking across the snow field at the bottom center of the shot. I suspect they are search and rescue people. Last December three climbers died in this general area, and they only found one body, so the searchers are out looking for the other two now. I wonder what, if anything, they'll find after half a year. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

I agree with the other comments, those two people really give us a good prospective on the enormity of the glacier. I like the hint of blue that shows up in the glacier.

What a fortunate capture getting the people into the shot - they give a sense of scale to the enormity of the glacier. A wonderful scene although I do feel somewhat chilly now! xx
