I'm a software engineer by day. I spend my time pushing ones and zeros around, which is not as easy as it sounds. They're slippery little devils.BIOI discovered fractals in the mid 80's with Fractint on what must have been a 25 MHz processor. Around 2001 I upgraded all the way from 400 MHz to 1.8 GHz, and thought about making fractals again. I discovered Fractal Explorer, and later XenoDream. These days I use mostly XD and MBF, with an occasional image from ChaosPro and Quasz, since I've always loved quaternions.
For my photography I use a Canon 30D. My primary lenses are a Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF DO IS USM and a Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM.

This is a magnificent, almost surreal view. You were probably right to turn around under those conditions, but I'm glad you were able to get this shot back to us. Fantastic!

Very bleak and dismal, but a great shot. Sorry your outing did not go very well.

A great shot though that allows me to see a close up of the mountain and the terrain that I'll never see in person. I thought of you yesterday and wondered if you were on the mountain in the rain. I was home reading the last installment of Harry Potter.

I know from experience in Tenerife (a volcanic island in the Canaries), just how much volcanic dust can hurt when the wind whips it up around your legs, so I can imagine how it must have hurt your face with winds that strong!! This is an excellent capture of such a bleak view and you were definately right to turn around. Good luck for next week though. Hugs. xx

Wow! How different from your lush greenery. This is what I'd call a "challenging terrain". Great shot thought.

I'm glad you turned around! Sandblasting your camera lens, not to mention your body, is just a really bad idea. I'm sure the manufacturer doesn't recommend it. Climbing 1000 feet is better training than taking a nap and playing on the computer, which is what I did yesterday!

A fabulous capture and congrats for just being up there at this hight. Glad you did turn back as there's always another day. Beautiful work my friend. Aloha

Wow, it looks like a veritable desert up there! Your mountains seem to go from lush to desert at the tree line, instead of having grasses and scrub for a while. Walking into a cloud in unfamiliar territory is not a good idea, glad you turned back... So what DID you do instead? :D

You have to listen to your instincts and the pelting nasty volcanic dust, and run for your life!!!! LOL!!!!! So sorry, you made it that far and had to turn back, I guess there's no camping and seeing what the next day holds????? This shot really shows the desolate terrain!!!! excellent!!!
