Description

Nikon 7900. I have posted a couple of images of this species before but this one is the best of the lot in my opinion. This cooperative individual was kind enough to perch on the edge of a rusty old 50 gal barrel by my garden shed. His back was squared to the late afternoon sun and the light was reflected off his wings creating an amazing shimmer of vibrant colors to be reflected. He almost glowed. The background was in deep shadows so there was no clutter to overcome. With a bit of lucky timing and a little post work I think I managed to capture and present a pretty good representation of the vibrancy this Butterfly displayed. As an after thought, I never have understood how this species came to get it's common name. Orange Spotted Blue seems much more appropriate, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Most beautiful butterfly - great shot! I do not like all the creatures you show here (especially the spiders) but the photos are excellent, the colors and light amazing. Sure, you have a good camera but you did find the right moment and angle for your shots. You deserve a 5*
