Ultra Fractal...
The inspiration for this one came from a book by John Fowles called "The Collector". It's a thinly veiled reference to art collectors... but the "specimen" collected by the main character (who collects butterflies) is a living, breathing 20 year old art student living in London, England. He becomes enchanted with her throughout his daily commutes into the city and decides he cannot live without her. In a nutshell, he follows her home one evening and drags her into his van... imprisons her in his basement for almost two months before she dies of pneumonia. She keeps a diary during these horrible times... and it's almost too painful to read.
When she dies, he buries her in his backyard ... her mom and dad never know what has become of her...
It made me want to go outside and just breathe for awhile... thinking that the simple fact of freedom is not something we celebrate very often... but we surely should...
Thank you ALL! so very much for your encouraging comments on "Dolphin Kisses"... you guys are the cat's pyjamas... honestly! :)
And thanks for stopping by to have a peek at this one!
Hugs!
Helen :)

This is gorgeous! Love the colors and the design. I really like how it's offset by the netting around the center piece. Excellent work. Bunny

What a fantastic piece!! The colors are awesome and bring to mind how the girl in the story would have felt had she been freed. Sounds like an interesting book!

This looks wonderful with the net as the background. We should enjoy our freedom, I would hate to lose mine. That book sounds so sad.

The kind of book that stays with you for some time after you've finished it. Impressive, Helen.

A dark story LM, but a stunning, bright fractal. Great blend of colors, and again, this one seems to have its own light source. Freedom, and your fractals are truly something to celebrate ;-)

The spirit cannot be imprisoned forever; it reaches upwards until it explodes into the light.

The Collector was also made into quite a good movie around the mid-1960's, starring Terrence Stamp and Samantha Egger. I remember that it touched me quite deeply, too. The fractal is very beautiful and presented stunningly.
