Lake Lilies by TwoPynts

"But when the Night had thrown her pall Upon that spot, as upon all, And the mystic wind went by Murmuring in melody -- Then -- ah then I would awake To the terror of the lone lake." ~ from Edgar Allan Poe's poem: The Lake -- To --
I thought I'd revisit the infrared water lilies but this time grunge up the photo a bit in posowork to get an aged feel and perhaps even a bit of menace? Or maybe I just made it look dirty. Either way, here you have it. As always, it is best viewed at full size. ------

for me all it does is make the lily leaves and surrounding water look like oil or something was shaken on them... :-) But, heck, just chalk it up to additional texture and contrast. :-)

Grungy, manacing, infrared water lilies? ...did someone have a strange nightmare last night? :o) Again, very creative and nicely presented.

It is a very haunting quality you have achieved. BJ

Not so sure what you have done but I do like it - it looks like plants growing in a cave starved of sunlight .

LOL @ OldHippieKeyboard!!! You certainly have a little rebel just bursting to break free from within you Kort!! I love the effects here, it almost has the feel of an old photo with water markings/staining on it. However you achieved it, it definitely works for me!! Hugs. xx

Yeah, they look more menacing now, they seem to have an nearly invisible toxicity to them ! Kool variation and postwork ! ~Cheers~ :o)

Hmmmm menacing? I'd have to say quite to the contrary. I think it's absolutely lovely, and has a great feel about it, perhaps the word you've used -- "aged" I would identify your image best with. I think the outcome of the postwork you've done is very unique, quite the variation--- a truly wonderful mood and atmosphere that you have created and captured as well. The monotone definitely works and is very suitable indeed. Lovely work!
goodoleboy
I don't think it looks menacing. Then again, I'm so saturated from seeing horror movies that everything else just looks commonplace to me. In any event, I like the composition of the dull white leaves contrasted against the black water. IR rocks!

Beautiful...

It's a bit to grungy for me!!!!!!! I really gave it a go though....but no, looks like water drops on the photo... next... LOL!!!!!!

You have made them look very mature!!! I thought everyone wants to look young these days?? I like what you have done with these lilies, the IR giving them a lovely colouring.

Pall....and all its connotations and resonance, exemplified in a mere image..(though there is hardly anything mere about this image at all). A striking and evocative piece. Lovely work :)
