This picture was taken from the rocks at Larrabee State Park, looking pretty much due West across Samish Bay. In this shot you can see the following islands: Eliza, Lummi, Sinclair, Cypress and Orcas. You are also looking at three counties: Whatcom, Skagit, and San Juan. All this pulchritude is in Washington State, about an hour and a half North of Seattle.
Sometimes people ask me why I don't travel more. Where would I go that's more beautiful than where I already am?

What a fantastic capture of the most perfect nature scene.... I'm so envious of you that you get to live in a place like this---and you are right about the vacation aspect. I most certainly woudn't need a vacation if I lived here either. It's a wonderful thought to be able to live somewhere, beautiful and peaceful enough to the point that one doesn't even crave to "get away" from it all. Your photograph captures the essence and true beauty of this land so well! Very soft touch to this photograph, and the framing is most pefect!
