I was born in Zimbabwe on 03/06/88. My family, consisting of parents, older brother and sister, migrated to South Africa when I was six months old. We moved back to Zimbabwe six years later, to help my grandparents on their farm - a career change for my father.
After a measly eighteen months we upped sticks and went farming on our own. This led us to Kwekwe, in the heart of Zimbabwe, to farm tobacco! Borrowdale farm which is part of the "Midlands Black Rhino Conservancy" is where we settled . This was the most incredible experience, living with such an abundance of wild life ........... of which we became a part of during the school holidays! Due to the "land redistribution policy" we had no option but to move on.
10th November, 2001 saw us arrive in New Zealand with our former lives packed into a suitcase each, ready to start our new lives. Our first three years were spent on the South Island and I nearly froze!!!!!!! A great employment opportunity for my father had us move up to the North Island. I now live on a farm just outside Matamata aka "Hobbiton" (defrosting).
Yep that should sum it up ha!

What's wrong with digital; and cloning ... does your class still use film? Anyway, don't listen to them LOL This is fabulous .. beautiful work; (all of it!) .. and one of the best out there. So there! :P Have a great day...

Looks great to me, although it looks a little like a render - as HDR images tend to do. Enjoyed your tutorial, by the way.

Mate stuff the others in your class. I've done waaayyy too long in chemical darkrooms working for others and their stiff meanings of life. What you've done here is work A WELL TAKEN SHOT into something that you have imagined, THATS ART. I challenge ANY film photographer, and that includes the likes of Adams etc, to say they have not ever altered a print whether it be in camera, under an enlarger or in chemicals. So WHAT IS the difference? I understand the feelings of the stubborn traditionalist and it does take a lot of skill to produce fine art film photography but they should understand that it takes the same type of artistic skill to produce this type of work. The only real difference I see is that you don't get sick on the smell of chemicals in a digital darkroom and your legs and feet don't get as tired. Fantastic work, I would have that hanging on my wall no problem. By the way, just how did you get the water to look like that ? :-)

OK, as a musician the first thing I thought of when I saw the title was that irritating disco song "Electric Slide"... Thank goodness this picture does nothing to bring out that melody in my brain! The dark clouds (especially the black ones) and the choppy sea really give a sense of foreboding to this creation. You know, like something really bad is about to happen -- whether it be a violent storm, a sea monster, or maybe even Bush being elected for another term... Sorry, guess my imagination is working overtime today. Then too, good art should spark the imagination, and yours truly does. Excellent post!

Very beautiful artwork!

This is very cool. I tried your tutorial, but am not much of a techno-whiz, and had trouble with some of it. I couldn't get the programs to work together. This image inspires me to try again! Awesome effects.

LOL Its Electric? I now have that stupid song in my head. I keep hearing, 'Boogie woogie woogie'. Sigh....Thanx a lot ,Ktk! LOL. ;^P Gorgeous shot here, I must say...and I love the postwork. I have to agree wholeheartedly with Hawk23. And I'll add that you have taken an image, and made it your own, with your postwork. That's something very difficult to achieve with straight B&W photography. But he's right. Adams used to manipulate his images in the darkrrom. He took multiple images of the same shot, at different exposures. The he put them together in the darkroom. So there ya go....The traditionalists like to leave out that wee piece of info. ;^P Anyway, great work and I will try my hardest to see that tut today. I just haven't had the chance. Take care and hope you have a wonderful day.-M :^)

Well I think this is stunning. The whole scene looks so surreal. I would second for hanging this on my wall in a frame, but then I would with just about any of your photos Kai. You have an amazing talent with the camera and afterwards too. Don't stop!! xx
