Description

20 years ago, robotic systems were sent to Mars to establish the foundation for a manned colony. Due to circumstances that still are a mystery, the probes fell out of contact just before they were due to land on Mars. Now, 20 years later a manned mission has come to Mars, partly to explore, but also to find out what went wrong with the robots. What they found has only confused the picture even more. *Note: see two earlier posts for details http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1460504 http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1471330 Following the discovery of an elaborate construct at what was to be the second landing site, the airborn scout probe circled about to learn more. It quickly found this object, which is is a pair of compact, fully self-contained nuclear generators that were intended to power the colony's initial stages. The shocking realization is that the scout's sensors indicate the reactors are working! Could the robots have been functioning, and did they construct these buildings that bear no resemblance to the intended colony design? Perhaps some of these robots are still functioning...

I like the whole series. All with that dusty far off look. Nice simple futuristic colonial architecture. One thing to make it more cool is have some detail in there to give us a sense of human scale. Perhaps, a very tiny robot seen from the probe, functioning or non-fuctioning, your choice. ; )
