Description

-----“We’ve come too far. Let’s go back before it’s too late.” “You know as well as I do, that wasn’t going to happen.” -----“Why though? Why can’t we leave and let someone else do this…someone more…experienced?” “I told you, it has to be us. We were the ones who saw what happened; we were the ones who saw him; we knew what we had to do then. Why the loss of backbone all of a sudden?” With that one question, they approached an old, wooden door. It appeared so rotten; one should have been able to simply push right through it. But that wasn’t the case; to the touch, it was as solid as stone, cold as ice and smelled of something that had been rotting for some time. -----“This is why the loss of backbone…look…” Written above the door, on a small plaque of rotten wood, a simple yet direct set of words, *Death welcomes all who beckon him*. “It’s my fault she’s here, and I’ll be damned if I leave her.” -----“You can’t be serious. She knew what could happen; she knew this was an outcome.” The second boy sighed. “I let my guard down. I got myself caught in a trap because of it. I finally realized what was happening and killed the little merboy. They used one of their own young as bait in a trap and I fell for it.” -----“I still don’t understand why you think that was a trap.” “Other than he tried to stick a barb in my neck, noooo, that wasn’t a trap.” -----“I still don’t think you are responsible. I was held up by the river and while you were in your little trap…” The second boy held up a little orb. It was made of glass but you couldn’t see though it, instead of clear glass, there were little shapes moving inside of it. A closer, more terrifying look…the small figures were dogs, small in the glass, they were running…towards something. A short moment later, in the glass, one could see a girl running, screaming, silently in the orb. Then as a horrible nightmare unfolding in the glass, the inside of it seemed to splatter with a thick, crimson liquid. The second boy put the small glass orb back in his pocket. -----“I really wish you wouldn’t look at that thing…or, at least, not to where I can see what happened.” “Did you see the size of those dogs? Did you notice--“ -----“That they were the size of small horses. Yeah, I know they were werewolves. But she won’t be one at least.” “BECAUSE THERE WASN’T ENOUGH OF HER LEFT!”
