Description

Hubby had some minor surgery and is off work for a while, so I went with him to the saw mill where he works and he picked some blackberrys at the back of my cousin's house. While I was there, I spied these Old Time Pokeberries. I used to make mud pies with them as a little girl with my Cousin at my Grandmother's every Sunday along with her laying hen's egg flour and sugar. Needless to say, my Grandpa wasn't too pleased with us getting his eggs, using his flour or his sugar, but my cousin and I were happy little pretend houswives then. Oh I wish I could go back to those days when life was so simple and carefree. I managed to get some more shots of some wild mullein, wild chicory, Queen Anne's lace, my first June bug capture and a few more that I will post later. Post work done in PSP 9. Adjusted one step photo fix. Adjusted color balance, hue and saturation. I am feeling so, so. The chemo a week and half ago really did me in and now the heat and humidity is back up supposed to be 96 here on Friday. I am still getting sick from the heat. I just can't stand to be out in it, so if I do anything it is early, then come back and lay down. Please forgive me if I have lapsed on commenting on some of your images. I will catch up with you all. Any and all comments are appreciated on this image. I hope all of you are having a good week starting out. Please keep me and my hubby in your thoughts and prayers with both of us down and out it is definitely no fun. Hugs n love, Susan~

Hi Susan (hugs) great to hear from you. As I said in my IM I get worried when theres nothing from you. This is gorgeous and how you brought back memories to me when I was a kid hanging out with my cousins and girlfriends picking wildberries and just eating them stright off the vine. haahahaha My mom could bake the best berry pies and I got to lick the bowls and clean dishes after she cook. lol I feel bad you got the blas after chemo. Yes the heat will make you even sicker so please stand indoors and cool. I will keep you and hubby in my thoughts and prayers. Your family is getting like mine. I have a blood disorder and have to stay on bood thinners or I throw blood clots, my husband has a diease called Systemic Lupus Erythemeous, and my son has severe Autism and is mentally challeneged. lol We are a sad party over here but have lots of love for each other. You try and stay healthy and I look forward to that next beautiful photo.

My gosh, how odd. I just pulled up some pokeberries in my garden that came up without asking. This is a wonderful shot of them. Its got to be the pits trying to keep up with the house, life and RR these days with so much going on with you. The heat is no help either. Hope it all gets better very soon. :-)

Your story from your childhood brought back similar memories from my childhood. My cousin and I made mud pies and played with our dolls and had a great time growing up together. Thank you for stiring up happy memories for me. I'll keep you and your husband in my prayers - thanks for sharing that with us so we can support you.

Wonderful pic shot Susan. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Great memories also but I really could have killed myself several times over doing some of the dumb dangerous stuff I did as a kid. Jumping my bike over barrels, climbing/swinging from trees, digging deep holes, to name a few. Get feeling better soon and I hope Hubby gets back on his feet real soon too. Big hugs from Dave :^)

I wish the best for both of you and a speedy recovery. the hospital that was responsible for my sisterinlaw dying gave my brother a bill for 80,000+.then he had a meeting with them and told them 2 lawyers wanted to take his case and then they dropped the bill to 67,000 and just the other day they dropped it to less than 10,000.they are really worried he will sue. I love blackberries and I just had a BB cobbler the other day. excellent capture Susan
