AloooooooooHa!
Hope this finds you all in great spirits being the early part of the week. This past Sun. 4 of us revisited Waipio valley to check out the sunrise. We left Sharky's house at 4am and reached this valley at a little before 6. The sun was just starting to come up and it was going to be a glorious day.
The other 3 had decided to climb a donkey trail which zig zagged up the side of this mountain. I'm not really making excuses for not going on the hike, but having come home from a gig the night before and having one a couple hours sleep before getting here....I was more than a little tired. Okay....maybe I whined a little.....
So I hung out on the beach while these adventurous souls climbed to the summit to check out the view. It's very hard to see in the this particular image, but if you look closely in the middle you can just make out Sharky heading for the mountain. This shot was taken from across a river that runs through this valley...it pours directly into the ocean. The closer to the ocean you get the shallower it is...so it's safe to cross there. It took them a couple hours to get to the top, and I'm sure I missed out on a spectacular view of the beach and beyond.
Needless to say, I had a great time hanging out on the beach...and they had a great hike. Thanks again Sharky, Brave Terry, and Carrie...what a great hiker she is...climbed right along side the men and hung in there...hat's off to her.
I hope we get to go again, it's such a great place to see and experience.

Wow! The reflection and landscape is just awesome. Preparing my camera gear and equipment, I forgot to look at this picture. What was I thinking of?...lol My focus was just on the river crossing and how not to fall in and wet my camera even if it was only ankle deep. A beautiful shot my friend and glad you made it. My congrats to Carrie for keeping in step with Brave Terry. She is definitely a great lady hiker. We will do it again my friend. Maika'i... Aloha

Interesting that the freshwater river is so calm and reflective and the saltwater surf in the distance is rolling and active. Nice capture of a very beautiful place.

LOL I would've stayed on the beach with you. Me and heights don't get along so well. I can't see Errol, but the shot itself is beautiful. That reflection is just gorgeous. Looks to me like the beach was the place to be. How great that the four of you did this together! Glad you had a wonderful time, and thanks for sharing this with us.
