Description

Here we're looking down the glacier's valley, with the lateral moraines clearly visible. The Stone Shelter is down on the right, just above treeline. Below the right moraine you can see a cleared area with some buildings. That's where we parked and started the hike, so we've already climbed a considerable distance. But we're not even to the steep part yet; I'll show you that when we get there. Compare this with last week's view of the outflow. Last Saturday's weather was soooo much better, I think you'll agree. :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

What a spectacular view this is! It reminds me of the song, "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever".

There's incredible force in a glacier, if only you give it a few thousand years to work, as is clearly shown by the size of these moraines (which were once bedrock). I like that the path along the top of the moraine is clearly visible - gives you an idea of the size of it all. Very nice view from up here, but I'll bet it gets even better higher up:)

Geez, one wrong step and you'd be some buzzard's lunch! Wow. Love the pov and the great expanse below.

I also really like the weather in last week's shot but you have still captured an amazing vista here Dennis. The POV is amazing and I can just feel so "free" looking at this. Great capture. xx

The previous week's weather was certainly more dramatic and scenic... from a distance. I can't imagine trying to hike nearly blind through that moraine morass. This natural landscape very much resembles strip mining operations. Fascinating.

Is that a body of water on the far right upper corner? (the bald spot) or is it a clearing for farming/homes. Awesome view! What a great area for a balloon ride! TY so much for sharing!

Great composition. That gray emphasizes the green behind. Good mix of colors.
