Description
More and more every day, in spite of the uncertainties of life, I realise what a gift it is to be alive. These days have passed with a sense of unfolding, and inexpressibly beautiful images fill my mind. It's such a good change from writing harsh edged truths.
This is really a song, and the reading may not follow a clear rhythm because the words are crafted to fit into a particular song flow, and many of the expressions are metaphors, some unique to where I live, which incidentally is not anywhere near the sea! I could explain all of them, but then where would be enigma, and the goodness of discovery?
In the midst of the heat and the crowds,
Or when a storm hits the city at night,
You know the awful frailty of man and the lonely, crying child,
The hard times come as friends
Who show us with the clarity of the gaze of God
How fragile we are, how fragile, how fleeting we are.
But these are the times of days a-dawning,
Rising like suns in the sky;
Imperial summons to awake and catch light in the depth of the night,
There's greenness that's running like sap
Overflowing from wounds in the bark of young trees,
And the scent of Life, as strong as it is, never overpowers
I'm free-falling in this light,
With the spangles of life floating all around,
And the sky is wide open...
And I'll ride these waves so deep,
For I'm caught by the sound of the surf,
And the sky is wide open...
In the heat of the summer you can find
Flowers that burn but never consume,
And you know that you can never, never, really be blinded by the light,
There are times when the sun looks like honey
Pouring down on air that's bright with the light,
And you know that the man on the street who walks is really just a child
When the seasons turn like old folk who sit
On park benches when the sun goes down,
And the weariness of time hangs heavy and grey like a rain-laden cloud,
With the falling of leaves one can find
The richness of colour that age only brings,
I'll shed my body, but the person I am grows strong everyday.
And I'm free-falling in this light,
With the spangles of life shining all around,
And the sky is wide open...
And I'll ride these waves so deep,
For I'm caught by the sound of the surf,
And the sky is wide open...
Thank you for reading. I hope this song-poem encourages you in this walk that we all share, called Life. :)

Beautiful song. The part about how we are all still children is so true. I'm very happy to hear that you are sensing the beauty in life despite its harsh realities. This song is evidence that there is always hope in rough times. The image is vast and calming. . . thank you for sharing, and for your insights. Hope all is well!
