Description
A continuation of my beloved series on heavy mobile equipment. Had almost forgotten about my folders of trains and ancillary equipment lying dormant in my hard drive.
Captured 5/06 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, California. An 80-acre site featuring 200 steam, diesel and electric locomotives as well as passenger and freight cars, streetcars, and other railway equipment. Rail transportation in the West from the late 1870s through the 1960s is depicted.
This a followup to the photo posted May 19, 2007, of the big guy sitting on his permanent resting spot. For further details, Locomotive #1 can be found on page 5 of my gallery.
And please, no comments about this being overexposed...if I hadn't brightened it, the essential detail would have been completely lost in shadow. Hence, don't mistake the warm white sand on the ground for snow or the locomotive body as the color silver. In fact, I got sunburned out there that May day.
Thanks for coming by, and have a wonderful week end!

So much detail went into making these mighty beasts. The craftsmanship and dedication is phenomenal. An excellent POV captured here dear Harry, it allows us to get a good view of the essential parts of the engine and wheels and also gives a sense of proportion to the vast size of this loco. Brilliant shot and I'm glad you dusted off this particular folder. Hugs. xx

Whatever do you mean...? Over exposed. Isn't that snow on the ground??? Fabulous shot of this great engine. We have several old trains here in town at the train museum and a steam train that carries visitors up and down the rails in Old Sacramento. This shot is about as good as it gets. Look at all that detail. Takes us back to when the term heavy metal meant heavy metal. And really, Harry, I like the snow on the ground like that. A nice white blanket to set off the silver of the engine. :-)

The details is more important in a shot like this and bet it was cold with the snow. very good pov here. love old trains too. I be going wild here lol

Now that's what I call a train! It's a work of art. Not like these modern boxes.

I do love this "overexposed" shot. Love the overal silverish grey tone. Cool angle shot , I love the heavy riveted body.

This is perfectly exposed! OVER exposed would be when the details get lost in a blur of light and glare. This is an excellent image! It's the train that's fascinating, and this photo really shows it off. Wonderful work!

There was a time when engines were not covered with a plastic shroud and hoods were not pinned shut.
