Description

This is another picture of the jumping spider that I posted a couple of days ago. It's a female Evarcha arcuata of the Salticidae family. After the flash went off for the first shot she got scared and jumped away to find cover under some dried ferns and other debris on the ground. They are curious animals though - so she couldn't help herself - she just had to poke her head out to get a better look at me:) They are funny to watch - as they have such keen eyesight, if you slowly move your hand back and forth in front of them, they will move their body to follow the movement, much like a dog will do... Canon 20d with Canon MP-E 65mm and Twin-Lite flash

I LOVE these little guys! Its those eyes they have. They are by far the cutest spiders there are. And this is a great shot of one. Really nice capture here.

"...if you slowly move your hand back and forth in front of them, they will move their body to follow the movement, much like a dog will do..." No! Really??? That actually sounds adorable. Preying mantises ( manti? ) do that, too. I can't believe you actually have me(!)...a bonafied spider-a-phobe....thinking a spider could be cute. LOL. Another great capture, Erik. Sorry it took me a bit to get to it...-M :^)
